This comprehensive course is designed to take you through all the basic ceramic skill-sets and clay theory in the space of four weeks.

- Brief overview of ceramic history, making techniques and decoration.
- Learning the most ancient techniques - pinching and coil building.
- Creating a cereal bowl, vase or pot.

Enduring forms
- Intro to firing of clay - what happens in a kiln and the various types of firings.
- Learning the slab-building technique.
- Creating a sculptural vase.

Making shapes
- Learning about material - the various types of clays and their chemical and physical properties.
- Working with plaster moulds and learning to use nerikomi and marbling techniques.
- Creating cups.

Decorative arts
- Introduction to various surface decoration techniques.
- Learning about the use of slips, decals and glazes.
- Decorating objects from previous classes.
