Join us to learn the process of plaster mould making and slip casting with porcelain.
This course will focus on the technical aspects of mould making and slip-casting: techniques widely used in studio pottery, sculpture, and ceramic industry. You will learn to make your own one-part and multi-part plaster moulds and master various slip-casting techniques. All materials included.
This course runs twice a year, with the next one scheduled for autumn 2024.

MATERIALS:
- Plaster
- Models & props
- Porcelain
- Colourful porcelain (15+ colours)
We will dry, glaze and fire your pieces, so they will be fully functional, and can even go to a dishwasher.
PROGRAMME:
01
Single-part molds
- Introduction on how moulds work & how to measure and mix plaster.
- Making a one part plaster mould from an object that will be supplied (cups & bowls).
- Making one-part mould.

Multi-part molds
- Theory about multi-part moulds & undercuts.
- Creating a two-part mold from objects supplied (fruit &veg).
03
Slip-casting
- Learning about slip casting: porcelain slip, how to prepare and mix porcelain.
- Learn how to colour porcelain.
- Demo of standard & arty casting techniques.
- Casting 3-4 pieces from the moulds made by you in previous lessons and provided molds.
