In our course you'll learn to design and create a full breakfast set (mugs, cups, coffee filter drippers & teapots). Suitable for beginners and intermediate level makers.
During the course you will cover all the techniques used to producing a tepot/coffee pot/coffee dripper system: making a body, spout and well-fitting lid, as well as hand-building other elements of the tea set. All materials & firings included.

DETAILS:
- 4 week course
- Class duration 2.5 hours
- Once a week (Thursday night)
- Small group: max. 8 per session
- Produce full tea set: teapot, cups/mugs, milk jug, spoons, saucers
- No hidden fees - materials and firings included

- Complete beginners
- Makers with some experience wanting to deepen their knowledge

MATERIALS:
- 6 types of clay: white, speckled, grey, mocha, terracotta, eco (recycled)
- Colourful underglazes ( 12+ colours)
- Glazes (15+ colours)
We will dry, glaze and fire your pieces, so they will be fully functional, and can even go to a dishwasher.
PROGRAMME:

Design
- Brief overview of tea-drinking traditions in the West and East
- Learning the basic techniques - coil building, slump-moulding and slab-building
- Designing a tea set. Creating the cups/mugs and saucers

Making shapes
- Demo of teapot making
- Learning how to make small parts for a teapot
- Creating all the parts of the teapot

Complex forms
- Learning how to join parts
- Making other parts of the teaset: milk jug, spoons etc.
- Finishing teapot, decorating the set

Decoration
- Introduction to various surface decoration techniques
- Learning about the use of slips, decals and glazes
- Decorating objects made during the course
